KANTHALLOOR

Kanthalloor is a small hamlet in the Idukki district of Kerala and is nestled peacefully in the midst of the Western Ghats. As it is surrounded by lush green hills, deep echoing valleys and beautiful farm fields, it maintains a photogenic environment.

Situated at a height of 5000 ft above sea level, it provides the cool climate for natural farming of seasonal fruits like Apple, Peach, Pear, Orange, Strawberry, Blackberry, Plum, Pomegranate, Custard Apple, Gooseberry, Avocado, Fig, Guava, Lemon, Lime, Kiwi, Passion fruit etc. Vegetables like Cauliflower, Cabbage, Carrot, Beetroot, Potato, Capsicum, Beans, Butter beans, Green peas etc are also abundantly grown. The climate is also ideal for commercial cultivation of exotic flowers. Here the cultivation is done with minimum use of chemical fertilizers.

The Anaimudi Sholai National Park (formerly known as MannavanChola) is the evergreen forest surrounding Kanthalloor. The major places of attraction include Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Pattisseri Dam, Kulachivayal rocks, Fruit Gardens, Lemon Grass Oil extracting units, Jaggery Plants, Keezhanthoor Waterfalls and the Cave temple of Sri Rama.

As the region in and around Kanthalloor experiences a beautiful climate throughout the year, it is certainly a year-round destination. Since the land is not much commercialized in the name of tourism, it safely maintains all its natural treasures and charms unaltered.
